How it works

Three steps. Zero servers.

From the moment you drop a file to the moment the result lands in your downloads — here's exactly what happens, and what never happens.

01

Drop your file

Pick any of the 14 tools, then drag files onto the dropzone — or click to browse. Your browser reads the file straight from disk into memory using the File API. No upload request is ever made.

  • Drag & drop or click-to-browse
  • Batch tools accept multiple files at once
  • Files exist only in your device's memory

02

Customize your options

Every tool exposes the settings that matter — page size, orientation and margins for PDFs; format and quality for images; ranges for splitting. Nothing is processed yet: settings are simply remembered until you hit convert.

  • Sensible defaults — convert without touching anything
  • Live controls: sliders, presets and format pills
  • Smart warnings (e.g. PNG re-encoding tips)

Convert & download

The engine runs entirely on your device — Canvas for pixels, pdf-lib for document surgery, WebAssembly for AI. A progress bar tracks the job, and the finished file is handed straight to your downloads folder.

  • Instant — no upload queue, no server round-trip
  • Before/after size comparison on compress & resize
  • Close the tab and nothing remains

Under the hood

Your device does the work a server used to do.

Your file Read from disk into memory via the File API
→
Your browser Canvas · WebAssembly · open-source engines
→
Your result Saved directly to your downloads folder
No server in the middle — nothing uploaded, stored, or logged.

File API

Reads files you select directly from disk into browser memory — the replacement for uploading.

Canvas API

Pixel-level image work: resizing, compression, and format conversion (JPEG / PNG / WebP).

pdf-lib & jsPDF

Surgical PDF manipulation: merging, splitting, page copying — and building brand-new PDFs from images or text.

WebAssembly + ONNX

Runs the AI background-removal model at near-native speed on your own CPU — privately.

What happens inside each tool family

Different engines, same privacy guarantee.

PDF tools

pdf-lib parses the PDF structure and copies page objects into a new document — your original content is never re-rendered, so quality stays pixel-perfect.

Image tools

Images are drawn onto a Canvas at your chosen dimensions, then re-encoded in your chosen format and quality. WebP output typically saves 60–90%.

AI background remover

A ~40 MB neural network downloads once, caches in IndexedDB, and runs inference via WebAssembly. After first use it works even offline.

Text & developer tools

JSON formatting, Base64, color math, word stats and password generation are pure JavaScript — instant, with zero dependencies.

It keeps working without internet

ConverterTools is an installable Progressive Web App. A service worker caches the app shell, every tool page, and the conversion libraries on your first visit.

After that, pages load instantly from cache — and if your connection drops mid-task, tools you've already used keep working. The AI model for background removal is cached separately in IndexedDB.

Install it from the install button that appears in the corner, or from your browser menu, and it launches in its own window like a native app.

Install in 10 seconds
  • 1Click the install button (or browser menu → Install app)
  • 2On iPhone: Share → "Add to Home Screen"
  • 3Launch from your home screen — works offline
Honest limitations: processing speed depends on your device's CPU and memory, so very large files (100 MB+) run slower than on a data-center server. The AI model needs internet once for its first download. Modern evergreen browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari 16.4+) are recommended.

See it in action

The best way to understand it is to drop a file in. It takes ten seconds.
